There may be other blogs about the Brigham City LDS Temple, but this blog has aerial photos of the construction. These were taken by my son, while I flew the plane. You can see the serious earth moving going on in preparation for the foundation and underground parking. Stay tuned and please enjoy!

The Morning of Ground Breaking

This beautiful morning started with the sun coming up over the Wellsville mountains. Here are some photographs of the historical Brigham City Tabernacle, which is directly east, across Main Street. I wanted to start off this entry with the Tabernacle, since it has been the spiritual center of Brigham City for a hundred years.

President Packer conducted the service, while Elder Russell M. Nelson made an unannounced appearance. (At least he wasn't on the printed program.)

Sister Packer also spoke briefly.

President Packer promised to return in two years' time, for the dedication, even, he said, if he was getting older.

President Packer gave the prayer, called on the powers of heaven for protection of the members of the temple district and then, ceremoniously turned the ground.

A large painting of the temple was also unveiled.

Here is a close up of how the temple will look.

The Stake Presidents, current and former got a chance to turn the ground also. Our Stake President, Robert Davis, of the Brigham City Stake (second from the left, with a shovel) was also there.

Then, everyone else got a chance to turn the dirt.
It was a memorable morning!
