Draper, Utah LDS Temple

I visited this temple last week and truly enjoyed this beautiful building and the feeling surrounding it. It is a little bit bigger than the Brigham City Temple will be, but I hope that the BC Temple will be every bit as beautiful and commanding.

The ground breaking for the Brigham City LDS Temple is July 31 at 9:00 AM. I don't have tickets for any of the seated viewing, but if you have any to share, send me an e-mail.

Temple Lot

I took these pictures of the temple lot from N7840U, a Cessna C-172, last Friday, during an incredibly beautiful afternoon and evening. The weather was remarkable for this time of year. Usually we have very unsettled weather, windy, rainy and cloudy until summer finally arrives, but it was severe clear and very calm.

The lot is in the center of the photos, to the right of the big white building and down from the Tabernacle with the large white spire.

Newport Beach Temple

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit this temple with my family. It was absolutely beautiful and the spirit there was very peaceful and calm, unlike anywhere else in SoCal. I really loved the palm trees and the landscaping. I hope that Brigham City's temple and landscaping is as beautiful, even without the palm trees!

Once dedicated, the Brigham City Utah Temple will be the Church's 139th operating temple worldwide, and the 14th in Utah. It will serve more than 40,000 members living in northern Utah and southeastern Idaho in 13 stakes.

Public open house: Aug. 18-Sept. 15, excluding Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sundays

Dedication: Sunday, Sept, 23, 2012

Location: 250 South Main Street, Brigham City, Utah 84302; across the street from the Brigham City Tabernacle

Property size: 3.1 acres

Building size: 36,000 square feet

Building height: Approximately 165 feet to the top of the Angel Moroni statue.

Angel Moroni statue: 12 feet tall

Exterior features:

· Temple made of pre-cast concrete

· Second floor round windows with art-glass peach blossoms

· Local stone from Weber Canyon used for walls around site

· Twenty-six fruit trees on site

Interior features:

· Wood trim, is hand-carved hard rock maple

· Stone floor tiles imported from Turkey

· Several pieces of original art work throughout the temple

· 12 cast bronze oxen in the baptistry; each different
