Salt Lake City Temple

Chances are you haven't seen the Salt Lake City Temple from this angle.  I went to see some of the condos for sell at Promontory on South Temple.  These photos are the view from the 15th story.

There are only 5 condos left, so if you are well heeled (OK, really really really well-heeled), you can buy one.  Of course, if you have the resources of a small republic, you can buy one of the penthouse floors and have a 360 degree panoramic view of the city.

Ogden Temple

A few years ago, the Mutual of the Brigham City 13th Ward, built this beautiful stained glass window depicting the Ogden Temple.  It is located in the LDS church at 25 North 300 East.  I guess the value of the window has gone up since the Ogden Temple no longer looks like this.  I have to admit that the architecture took awhile to grow on me, but I liked it.

Mount Timpanogos Temple

In winter, when the days are short, it gets harder to take photos while the sun is out.  That's the reason for these night photos of the Mount Timpanogos Temple.  I stopped by and snapped these after I had plenty of turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream with my family  and extended family in Lehi.

The symbols of "light on a hill" and a "beacon to the world" certainly apply to the temples, especially at night.

Draper Temple

I went to a mission reunion yesterday in Alpine in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Chilean Mission.  (I served in Santiago, Chile, BTW).  That would make a good story in itself, but what I wanted to share with you are the  photos I took on the way back.

Suncrest Drive connects Alpine with Draper, over the top of the Draper Ridge.  I have never been on that road.  So I took the opportunity.  The leaves have turned a beautiful red-orange color and you can see the entire Utah and Salt Lake Valleys from either side of the ridge.

An added bonus on the way North is the Draper Temple.

Ogden Temple Reconstruction - Moroni has left the building

I'm sure that many readers of this blog have attended the Ogden Temple at one time or another.  I stopped by yesterday to see how the reconstruction was going.  There is barely anything recognizable left!

As I reported before, the parking structure is completely gone; only a dirt field remains.  The temple itself has been completely gutted, only the basic structure is still in place.

It made me a little sad to see the condition of the temple, since I remember how it was inside.  I hope the reconstruction will result in an even more beautiful building.
