Ogden, Utah LDS Temple at Night

These photos were taken last night in the crisp fall air. The LDS Church has announced that it is going to remodel the temple - a complete exterior change- sometime in the future. I only hope that the Brigham City Temple is completed first.

Fall Returns to Brigham City

Fall has come once again to Brigham City. Jack Frost hasn't yet hit, except in the mountains, but the fall colors are starting to show in the grapes and some maple trees. The bees were busy this morning in my fall flowers and the roses are blooming after the hot summer.

Once dedicated, the Brigham City Utah Temple will be the Church's 139th operating temple worldwide, and the 14th in Utah. It will serve more than 40,000 members living in northern Utah and southeastern Idaho in 13 stakes.

Announced: October 3, 2009

Groundbreaking: July 31, 2010

Public open house: Aug. 18-Sept. 15, excluding Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sundays

Dedication: Sunday, Sept, 23, 2012

Location: 250 South Main Street, Brigham City, Utah 84302; across the street from the Brigham City Tabernacle

Property size: 3.1 acres

Building size: 36,000 square feet

Building height: Approximately 165 feet to the top of the Angel Moroni statue.

Angel Moroni statue: 12 feet tall

Exterior features:

· Temple made of pre-cast concrete

· Second floor round windows with art-glass peach blossoms

· Local stone from Weber Canyon used for walls around site

· Twenty-six fruit trees on site

Interior features:

· Wood trim, is hand-carved hard rock maple

· Stone floor tiles imported from Turkey

· Several pieces of original art work throughout the temple

· 12 cast bronze oxen in the baptistry; each different

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, frequently referred to as “Mormons”, believe in Jesus Christ, his life, mission, teachings, atonement, crucifixion, and resurrection. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things”.
