Exterior Architectural Panels

This is how they take the exterior panels off the truck.

Week 44

This phase of the construction is really progressing quickly.  The exterior panels are going up very fast and are visually impressive.

You can just imagine how beautiful the temple will be when it is complete.

The forms are almost complete to pour the concrete for the roof of the parking garage.

The exterior window is on the left and the interior window is in the middle of the photo.  You can see how the light comes thorough both of them, since there is a distance of 6 or 8 feet between them.

I thought this was a star, but up close, it is a flower

Week 43 & a Half

I took these pictures on Wednesday because I just couldn't wait to see the additional exterior panels on the temple.  This stage of construction is really exciting even though I realize that once the exterior is complete, I won't be able to see any of the construction on the inside.

Exterior Architectural Panels

The exterior panels for the temple were made by Clark Pacific, a company in California.

Week 43

Wow!  Amazing things are happening at the temple site.  (Should we call it Temple Square?)  The exterior panels are being placed and it is making the temple look like a temple really fast.

Big D brought in one of the biggest cranes I have ever seen (I know I need to get out more) to lift the concrete panels into place.  I was able to see some of them hoisted off the truck and attached to the front of the temple.

I hope you enjoy watching the progress as much as I do!  I also met some fans of my blog this morning while I was taking these photos.  They said nice things about the blog, so thanks to all my readers!!!

This is how the exterior panels arrive - by truck

This is big crane!

This panel weighs 16,500 pounds!

These bolts hold the exterior panels in place
This impromptu notch in the backside of this panel corresponds with the cut the workers made in the steel beam. Notice the debris where the notch was chiseled out.

This panel weighs 20,000 pounds!

Someone apparently made a miscalculation and the workers had to cut this beam so the exterior panel would fit
